Young Aurora (Sophie Sloan) is convinced that a monster has devoured her family. In her desperation, she seeks help from the mysterious stranger next door (Mads Mikkelsen), a hitman who reluctantly agrees to assist her. He suspects that Aurora’s parents weren’t eaten by a mythical creature at all, but were victims of an attack that was actually intended for him. Driven by feelings of guilt and responsibility, he ultimately takes on the task of protecting the girl—and in doing so, comes to realize that some monsters are indeed real.
