This novel by Stephen King, a classic and bestseller, has never been made into a movie - but now the time has finally come. The story is somewhat reminiscent of The Hunger Games, and as luck would have it, Panem director Francis Lawrence actually directed the film. THE LONG WALK is set in a future in which 100 teenagers take part in an annual competition - the so-called “Long Walk”. The rules are simple: maintain a speed of over three miles per hour. Anyone who is warned three times within an hour is shot. The last one to go gets everything he wants for the rest of his life. Under these grim circumstances, the boys develop deep friendships - even though they know that each one's survival is a threat to their own. The book carries the spirit of other coming-of-age stories by Stephen King, in which boys assert themselves in the midst of hardship and despair - much like the characters in STAND BY ME and IT.
