Hoselupf

“Hoselupf” is a tribute to Switzerland's number one national sport: wrestling. With a twinkle in his eye, yet serious at the same time, Beat Schlatter, a native of the city of Zurich and amateur wrestler, guides us through the film. In search of the soul of wrestling, he feels his way into a world that is completely foreign to him, characterized by a dividing line between city and country, which he tries to bridge. In the run-up to the 2010 Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Frauenfeld, he accompanies the baddest of the bad in private, in the wrestling cellar and at the traditional mountain wrestling festivals. On his journey, Schlatter delves into the rich history of wrestling and examines the customs, culture and significance of this national game for Switzerland.
