ANNA, the first season of the CHRONICLES, is based on one of the most famous historical narratives in Europe – the life of Anna Göldi, the “last witch”.

1782, in Glarus, Switzerland: the maid Anna Göldi is beheaded and burned. Allegedly, the “last witch of Europe” had bewitched her employer’s child, who repeatedly spat out Gufen (sewing needles), suffered from violent convulsions, and had a deformed leg.
